10/12/15

Here we are in Waterford with the solar panels angled to catch the sun.

Waterford visitor center.
First apple pie aboard the new Persephone.  Baking a pie is a good way to warm the cabin in the morning.

Thick fog is finally lifting as we head from Hook Boat Club anchorage to Kingston.
Our travels on the Erie Canal this year were beautiful - lots of fall colors, it warmed up nicely, and dry....until Friday.  Rain to greet us as we proceeded through the 5 locks at Waterford and then tied up for the night.  We had intended to stay Saturday night as well but with our chores done and a check of the tides on the Hudson we decided to leave at 3 Saturday afternoon to take advantage of the current.  Waterford to a protected anchorage by the Hook Boat Club.  At 7:00 the little remaining daylight slipped away as we put down the anchor.  Frost warnings in the area meant fog for us the next morning's first hour of travel.  We made our way along in the fog using the chartplotter and the binoculars.  Another beautiful sunny day unfolded as we motored to Kingston. The mast should go up on Tuesday.
