Happy Holidays

12/23/16

Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy holiday season!

On my most recent passage I sailed above the sea of clouds for a distance of about 2000 miles and experienced a 65 degree temperature drop from St. Thomas to Ithaca, NY to spend Christmas with family.  I find it a challenge and a joy to be able to peer down from the plane's small window to identify islands and places along the coast we've traveled by sea.  The small islands and waters of the Bahamas, especially, are so beautiful and intriguing to view.  Varied sizes, shapes, water colors, sand features....fascinating!
Jerry stayed on the boat.  He has no interest in cold climates during the winter and shivers at my tales of snow and shoveling the driveway and single-digit mornings.
Before my departure we had more than a month to adjust to the island lifestyle, make some repairs/improvements aboard, visit friends, cook a big Thanksgiving dinner and sail to the Bitter End in the British Virgin Islands.

Persephone anchored in North Gorda Sound.

Having a painkiller at the Saba Rock Resort bar (to use wifi).

Yeah! Snow to shovel at Mom and Dad's in Newfield, NY!

I made a snow bunny on the grill at Susan and Tom' in Maine.
